Event description
Focusing on aligning the body, mind and spirit; practicing presence to come back to the true self.

About this Event

We are excited for you to join us at our annual autumn event! This year due to COVID guidelines, we have made some adjustments. Instead of our community potluck, we are asking you to bring your own cooked meals (lunch, snacks and supper) as well as your own feast bundle (eating gear).

Our meeting will take place at the Misiwe Ni Relations Healing Lodge located in Manotick, ON. There will only be room for a total of 12 participants. Our focus is still based on a full day of coming together as sisters and brothers in sacred circle ceremony.

The theme for this year is Awakening – A gathering of souls. Focusing on aligning the body, mind and spirit; practicing presence to come back to the true self. Join in this beautiful experience Grandmother Minnie, Dr. Diane Bourbonnais, Art facilitator Marie-Claude Charland, and Monica Dumont, Divine Transmitter.

About Dr. Diane Bourbonnais has retired from a long career as a psychologist in Ottawa. She was a part-time teacher at the University of Ottawa and St-Paul’s University as well as a teacher of Focusing developed by Dr Eugene Gendlin. Her long-time interest in cross-cultural and specifically indigenous issues, have motived her to continue her training in shamanic approaches to healing.

The Medicine Wheel, it is said that there are over 200 teachings within it. It is an ancient symbol used by Indigenous Nations on Turtle Island, what we currently call North and South America.

Minnie shares the teachings of the sacred smudge ceremony in various venues. She began to share the teachings in classrooms of young children, youth and holding sacred space in board meetings when called upon. She has been working with the Elders and countless teachers of all nations and walk with her sacred tools such as the rattle, drum, and smudge bowl for clearing ceremony. And as well the sage water spray for those places that do not accommodate the smoke of smudge ceremony. She is most comfortable to share a prayer in her first language (Cree of Northern Quebec) that is more nature to her way of being and may offer a short translation when needed or asked.

Minnie is most often called for holding sacred space, prayer offerings, drum awakening ceremony, taking care of the birth bag of new arrivals to Mother Earth, Cree Walking Out ceremony, Snowshoe Walking and cultural activities from her Cree Ancestors.
