Long overdue for a promotion? Bored of your current job? Tired of that hour-long commute? Frustrated being micromanaged? AWB got you covered! Come join us at our next event AWB got Talent" to sharpen up those interview skills and ACE your next interview.

Our next event will include a panel of veteran interviewers to provide expert feedback on a live mock interview session. We are also giving an opportunity for those brave souls who would like to get the fullest training from this event. We are offering to interview anyone who wants to practice their skills live. It will be a positive and safe environment. No prior interview experience required. At AWB we hope to see all our members grow and succeed.

Our expert panels will provide feedback about what they liked and other perspectives from different industries. We also need the help of all our attendees to provide encouragement to our brave volunteers.

Tax Technician – SRED

Company XYZ’s SR&ED group consists of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, accountants, and tax specialists who assist our clients to obtain tax savings and credits through programs offered by the federal and provincial governments which support the development of new technologies in Canada (for more information on these programs, please visit http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/taxcredits/sred/menu-e.html).

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are currently seeking a Tax Technician to join its Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Tax Incentives group.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working with clients´ finance and accounting departments with respect to their SR&ED claims.
  • Work with engineers to ensure that clients receive government tax incentives for their research and development efforts.
  • Work in a team environment in completing the SR&ED claims of small through large corporations.
  • Preparation of SR&ED tax forms using Taxprep software.
  • Respond to tax questions relating to the SR&ED program.
  • Assist in completing accounting and tax documentation for SR&ED claims.
  • Ensure that SR&ED claims documentation is filed and completed in accordance with the established quality controls.

THE SKILLS & BEHAVIOURS:

A successful candidate will possess the following skills and behaviours:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a public accounting firm, combined with T2 preparation.
  • Strong communications skills (written, spoken, and verbal) in English.
  • High comfort level with computer software and technology.
  • Able to work closely with clients and to resolve disputes with third parties.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks for multiple clients to consistently achieve delivery milestones.
  • Completion or enrolment in an accounting designation (CGA, CMA) would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of tax rules relating to the SR&ED program would be an asset.
