Event description

Description

What’s next for the Welding Industry?

Revamped Apprenticeship programs for Welders and Wire Process Operators were successfully introduced in 2014. In parallel, the Pressure Welders Regulation was streamlined, and new certifications were added to increase options for skilled welding-related labour certification. In 2018, the Regulatory Review process is starting again, and we seek your input to help determine ‘what’s next’ for the industry.

Have your say:

AWOC and our partners invite you to the 4th Welder Town Hall to discuss Alberta’s recent economic trends, review competitiveness challenges and opportunities, and seek industry feedback on future potential Regulatory changes.

Presentations

  • Overview of the Metal Fab Sector - Kate Reynolds, Alberta Economic Development and Trade

  • End User Specs: The Invisible Hurdle - Terry Mueller, TransCanada

  • Recent Changes to ASME Section VIII UG-84 Impact Testing Requirements - Keelan Wolfe, SGS

  • Outcomes from the AWOC Competitiveness Study and Industry Survey – Rick Walmsley/Matt Yarmuch, AWOC
