Event Details

Awoken is the story of Todd Silvano, an insomniac who, despite ambition and imagination, has lived life without purpose.

He realizes this now, as he begins to fall prey to the same rare disease that took his father's life - a condition that, once awoken, prevents the victim from ever again achieving full R.E.M. sleep -- forcing his mind to slowly shut down from sheer exhaustion.
Now four months in without sleep, he finds himself lost in his own subconscious - his dreams and memories, his fantasies and fears - guided only by a mysterious phantom, who calls himself a "doctor".

Here, in the dimly lit labyrinth of his own mind, Todd has one last chance to discover peace within find meaning for his life, and finally be able to rest....or awaken, and repair his life.
Every dream is a story, but for the story to be true...the dream must become a nightmare.
An original work, inspired by a true story.

Originally presented to rave reviews at the 2013 Ottawa Fringe Festival (then titled Wake), FireFlood Entertainment presents a new production of this newly revamped work, performed by author Nicholas Dave Amott, at the newly opened LIVE on Elgin space on August 21 (8pm) and 22 (8pm and 9:30pm).

Advanced (i.e. here) - $10
Door - $12
Door (Friday concert/reception ONLY) - $5

FireFlood Entertainment

Ignited in 2012, FireFlood Entertainment was sparked on a number of ideas:

1) Live performance is a flame. It is an energy to be admired and respected. It has the power to warm our hearts, or burn into our thoughts and soul.To survive, it spreads - finding new ground, new material, new ideas to feed its energy and keep it burning. To watch it is a magical experience, at times dreamlike, at others frightening. Key difference: theatre does not destroy, quite the opposite.

2) Live performance is water. We immerse ourselves as it washes over us, and it is as though we are plunged into a new world - different from the one we know, yet so close to it all the same. It is a new feeling, a new energy. Also, very often, it is very cool. Take the plunge. Drink it in. Key difference: you can breathe.

3) Live performance has the potential to happen anywhere, at any time. All that matters is what is being created, and whether or not it is presented in a way that respects the conditions of its environment.

4) Live performance has the power to create worlds, and this magic should be indulged in.

5) Live performance is intimate in its nature and its relation to the audience. The worlds and stories presented by it are contained and restricted by this intimacy - a magic that should also be indulged in.

The theatre of FireFlood Entertainment presents modern situations that are endowed with elements of fantasy (or fantastical situations that are, at their core, grounded in truth and reality) The mundane and familiar are suddenly transcended into something epic. The impossible suddenly rings out harsh truths.
Often, music is incorporated into our pieces in order to add to the ethereal magic of the performance
and create that epic feeling of inspiration within our audience.
