About this Event

Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is the oldest continuously practiced health-care system in the world. Drawn from an understanding of nature's rhythms and laws, Ayurveda is built around the five elements of ether, air, fire, water, and earth. The profound promise of Ayurveda is that through changes to diet and lifestyle, not only can we prevent disease but also live a long, healthy life in balance and harmony. It provides an integrated approach to the prevention and treatment of illness through lifestyle changes and natural therapies.

This workshop focus on teaching the fundamentals of Ayurvedic medicine in everyday lifestyle and incorporating food and medicine, breath work and healthy lifestyle to your yoga practice.

We will learn:

How to recognize the qualities of the elements in everything around us, including yourself and others.

Begin to understand the doshas – how they relate to each other, how they manifest inyour physical, mental and emotional characteristics.

Discover your prakruti (long-term constitution) and vikruti (short-term imbalance)

Diet – what you eat (food categories and the six tastes), how you spice it, and how youeat it and the importance of Dina Charyas or a daily routine

Yoga for your dosha type – asana, pranayama, meditation

When: October 19th 2pm-5pm
