Event description
If your baby's favourite toys are things like measuring spoons and containers, then this interactive workshop is for you!

About this Event

Does your child seem to play with ordinary "things" around the house a lot more than the expensive toys you buy for her/him?

Let's find out how we can allow our babies to have enriching playtime, without having to buy expensive toys!

Pooja Pabari, French Immersion Kindergarten teacher at Maple Ridge schools and new mom of 12-month old son, Armaan, will introduce us to the importance of sensory play, guide us through her sensory box creations, and coach us on how to make our own at home! Pooja has a teaching degree and a curriculum and planning graduate degree from SFU.

Wednesday, June 26

  • 12pm-1pm
  • Bambini's Playroom, 4879 Main Street (AT 33rd AVE) in Vancouver, BC
  • $12 tickets in advance, $15 at the door
  • Hands-on learning for you and your baby and a fun outing to socialize with other new moms, dads and babies!

Pooja will introduce 4 of her sensory bins, a sensory board and her idea of weekly rotating activity bins. These samples will give you exciting ideas in how you can use simple things around the house to create fun and stimulating materials that your baby can use and play with for many years to come.

This Sensory Box Workshop will give you ideas of simple and accessible things that you can use around the house to stimulate your baby's development and play! By the end of this workshop you will learn to use materials in a more imaginative way.

This workshop will allow you to change the idea of play; making play more open ended and more versatile.

Pooja uses similar bins with her Kindergarten students and her baby. Sensory play gives children opportunities to be in charge of their learning. This open-ended learning allows children to have independence and explore their creativity with different materials you provide.

What is sensory play?

It includes any activity that stimulates baby's sense of touch, smell, taste, sight, or hearing. The idea is to encourage little ones to use their senses to play, create, investigate and explore. Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain's pathways, which lead to the child's ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Sensory play supports language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction.

This workshop will take place at Bambini's Playroom, 4879 Main Street (AT 33rd AVE) in Vancouver, BC.
