Description

What's it all about?

The focus of this workshop will be your natal chart—where the planets were at the time of your birth—which shapes your personality, according to astrology. In this workshop you will learn about what each planet represents in your chart, and a basic idea (in other words, stereotypes) of each of the astrological signs. As you’ll find, astrology doesn’t define your life—but it can give you insights into feelings and thoughts you may have already had about yourself! During the workshop, you’ll look up your natal chart, identify the different aspects between the planets, and learn some basic ways to work with those ideas—whether you want to tease out innate talents or you want to deal with difficult tensions. This is a great class for newbies or intermediate students, as there will be time for questions, observations, and discussion.

What you need to bring?

Ideally, a copy of your natal chart, which can be found for free online on such websites such as Cafe Astrology or Astrodienst. You could bring a paper copy or a document on your phone. The Gladstone Hotel also has wi-fi from which you could access your chart. If you’re unable to access this, please let the instructor know ahead of time. - Pen and paper to take notes and do exercises.

Who will be teaching?

Taylor Benjamin Burgess has been studying the occult for nine years. He began the Occult Society of Self-Care this summer to teach the symbols of the occult in ways that will enrich our physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional well-being. Finding out whether the effects of these symbols are objectively verifiable is not the aim of the society. The symbols give us, at the very least, tropes with which we can investigate our lives. Burgess holds a degree and diploma in communications from University of Winnipeg and Red River College. He has been the editor of the UWSA publication Stylus Magazine, and was a member of the band The Zorgs.
