Event Details

Beads of Hope was created six years ago by Nafisa Adams, an exceptional Ghanian woman who dedicates her time to fighting poverty in her community by empowering and teaching girls and women to start their own jewelry businesses. $75 buys provides a girl vulnerable to child marriage and sex trafficking a bead kit and hope for a new path in life. Proceeds from jewelry sales are used to purchase new kits to in turn help more girls!

So far, Beads of Hope has helped improve the lives of 75 women and girls in the village of Paga and another 15 street girls from the city nearby.

One of the current goals of Beads of Hope is to have as many girls as possible complete Senior High School so that they can realize their full potential.  It is especially when girls are educated that the cycle of poverty can be reversed in the coming years. Many of the girls who are making beads right now intend to become teachers and nurses, which will have a tremendous impact in their community. But many will not make it because they can't afford the tuition even to finish high school. Tuition and living expenses for one girl to attend one year of Senior High is about $700 CDN.

A second current goal is to build a shelter for the city girls, many of whom live on the streets in danger of abuse, malnutrition, child marriage, and pregnancy. Nafisa has already purchased the land with hard earned money through jewelry sales and is now seeking funding to erect a safe haven for the girls on that land. We're estimating $35 000 for the building costs.

When women and girls are economically empowered, it has a rippling effect on the society. They not only support themselves but also their families and communities, moving many toward a much brighter future.

Please help us reach our fundraising goal of $10 000 to support one of these two causes.

Join us Sept 10th & help provide a brighter future for a Ghana girl. RSVP below, indicating where you'd like the proceeds of your ticket price to go: Education OR Shelter.

Our mission is to provide opportunities for disadvantaged teen girls to become self-sufficient, confident young women with the means to "pay it forward" to the next generation and create a pathway of generative success.

We do this by partnering with women like Nafisa - smart, successful and already making a difference in their communities - and arm them with resources and funding that supports their work and enables them to scale.
