Bald Eagles: The Barr Lake Photography Hike
Event Information
About this Event
Overview
The art of capturing bald eagles in their natural habitat and always a challenge. Join photographer Winslow Robbins on an early morning adventure to the shores of Barr Lake State Park in Brighton, CO. The park is a nesting spot as well as a haven for up to 100 bald eagles every winter, making it an ideal location for viewing and photographing these majestic birds in the wild. While wild animal photography can be a challenge, the satisfaction of a well executed shot can be worth all the time and trouble. With this new class from Winslow Robbins Photography, you will learn to embrace the challenge and take your wild bird photography to the next level.
The class includes an evening lecture online on Thursday on the ins and outs of wildlife photography, giving you a solid foundation for autofocus, continuous shooting, proper hand holding techniques, and proper exposure. The class is followed by two mornings (Saturday and Sunday) on the lake, practicing the techniques learned during the evening class. The start time is 6:30am, so make sure to bring a warm coat, hat and gloves. The eagles are often skittish, so the two days should allow for more opportunities to capture them in dramatic fashion. The following Thursday there will be an online photo critique For the critique, you can submit 3 final images from the workshop, for discussion and critique.
