Event description
BAYANIHAN Dinner Series 2.0

About this Event

Filistix x Kanto 98 x Yelo’d x JP Dublado x Earl Briones

The Filipino word “bayanihan” is a profound term with noble meaning. It is derived from the root word “Bayan” which means nation, town or community. “Bayanihan” literally means “being in a bayan” and it refers to a fundamental aspect of Filipino culture: working together in a communal sense to serve a common goal.

On Wednesday, September 18, 2019, Filistix hosted the first of this dinner series. We offered a special eight (8) course tasting menu dinner with some of Edmonton's finest Filipino chefs: Edgar Gutierrez (Kanto 98 St Eatery), Ailynn Santos and Jason Wong (Yelo’d Ice Cream and Bake Shoppe), 2019 Great Kitchen Party Winner JP Dublado (SC at the River Cree Resort), and 2017 Canadian Food Championships Winner Earl Briones (Drunken Ox Sober Cat). We came together to celebrate the flavours and ingredients of the Philippines and bridge the gap of our cuisine to those who were curious but unfamiliar.

On October 30, 2019, we are reuniting for Bayanihan Dinner Series 2.0. Tickets are $85 per person (plus GST, gratuities and fees). A curated drink list will be available. Tickets sold out within days of release for the first installment so we encourage you to get your tickets early.
