BBC - De-mystifying Pooling Pricing: The Past, Present and Future of Poolin...
Thu, 23 March 2017, 7:30 AM – 10:45 AM EDT
Our theme this season is Making the Link: Financial Sustainability and Measuring Outcomes. In our last session, presenters explored the development and interchangeability of Biologics and Biosimilars internationally and in Canada. We also discussed the impact on plan members and plan sponsors of Preferred Provider Networks and Product Listing Agreements.
If you are an advisor, a plan sponsor or insurer and you or your clients have been impacted by pooling claims and extended health plan premium increases, you should attend our next session.
With more high cost drug claims and the increased pressure on pooling charges, plan sponsors are struggling to balance plan affordability and adequate protection against high health claims. Increased pooling charges put pressure on small and mid sized groups through their EP3 premiums. Large amount pooling charges can affect groups of any size as they protect their plan from both one time and recurring large claims.
Our March 23, 2017 session will address:
Insurer Pooling 101 – How underwriters set pooling rates, address claims, trends and forecast future impact on large amount pooling
Industry Pooling – Dan Berty, Executive Director, the Canadian Drug Insurance Pooling Corporation will review the 2015 Pooling Corporation experience, examine claim trends since inception, and will discuss future pooling limits and pooling charges
Pooling in the Trenches – Working with plans where one or more health claims are charged to the EP3 and/or insurer pools; the resultant impact at renewal and on long term plan sustainability
