About this event

Join us in-person or virtually for our 2022 AGM!

The BCHIMSS Annual General Meeting and Social is just around the corner on Thurs, Nov 23rd, 2022 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm at St. Regis Bar and Grill in Vancouver, BC. We'll be celebrating the accomplishments of the past year and sharing exciting plans for the coming year ahead including the launch of our mentorship programand our first in-person Spring conference in over two years!

This year's AGM will feature a special guest, Sue Robins, a health care activist, speaker and author. Her latest book, Ducks in a Row: Health Care Reimagined, is a scrappy challenge to the established health care world. Please see her full bio included below. We will be giving out signed copies of her book along with other door prizes for in-person and virtual attendees during the event.

Member & Non-member Registration

AGM attendance is limited to current members in good standing. If you need to renew your membership before registering for the AGM, please visit the HIMSS membership page.

The Social component of the event - from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm - is open to non-members. Shake off the dust and get ready to (safely and responsibly) mingle while enjoying a glass of your favourite refreshment and a variety of tasty canapés!

Members - In-Person Registration: Admission is FREE - canapés and two drink tickets will be included.

Members - Virtual Registration: Admission is FREE. We will be live-casting the event and offering a virtual voting system and chat so you can participate virtually. If you would like to host your own in-person AGM viewing party and social in your community, please contact britishcolumbia.info@himsschapter.org to inquire about funding opportunities.

Non-Members: Admission for non-HIMSS members is $30 - canapés and one drink ticket included.

If you think member admission looks like a pretty great deal - you're right! These socials are just one of the ways we show appreciation to our membership base, offer cost savings on events, and create opportunities for connection. Please consider signing up for chapter membership for $35 USD if you haven't already - you'll not only be able to register as a member for this event, but you'll also be able to attend all of our virtual events for free! (If you are an employee of our chapter Organizational Affiliate members FNHA, IHA, PHSA, or VCH you can automatically get free full regular membership. If you haven't heard about this through your employer yet, message us for the sign-up link!)

What to expect from the "new normal":

  • The social will be held in the St. Regis Bar and Grill, which offers a spacious private event space that includes a private washroom and bar for our guests.
  • The private room has a max capacity of 134 guests. Based on member feedback, we'll be limiting capacity further to a max of 100 guests to ensure there is plenty of space to roam and nobody feels too crowded.
  • The space will be set up to encourage extra ventilation.
  • Plenty of hand sanitizer will be available.
  • Although the vaccine passport has been lifted in BC and vaccination status will not be checked by the venue, we are anticipating a highly vaccinated audience.
  • You all know the drill by now: If you feel sick at all or are aware of being exposed to COVID recently by a close contact, we'll miss you - but please stay home! You're welcome to a refund if you've paid for the non-member ticket in this case, so please drop us a line to cancel as soon as you know so that we can open up your spot to someone on the waitlist.
