Seminar 1: Assessing the Opportunity
Speaker: Ralph Turfus
Day/Time: Wed. March 11 | Registration/Networking: 6:00pm | Seminar: 6:30-9:00pm
Location: 515 Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC. Room: HC 1420

Every March-May, BCIC-New Ventures offers a 10-week seminar and networking series, open to anybody interested in growing their technology start-up business. Each week you’ll learn a different building block for a successful start-up.

You do not need to be part of the BCIC-New Ventures Competition to attend the seminars. Cost is $20 per seminar or $100 for the 10-week series. Your seminar fees are transferable to the Competition fee, if you decide to enter.

Through examining the components of a solid and effective positioning statement, Ralph offers startup entrepreneurs food for thought on both how and why they are pursuing their ventures and helps them get set up for success.

Speaker biography:
Ralph Turfus is an accomplished technology entrepreneur who has spent three decades in the IT sector. Most recently, he was founder and CEO of Class Software, a leading developer of software for municipal government. In 2004, Class was acquired by California-based Active Network in a private equity-financed transaction. An engineer/MBA, Ralph’s passion is developing the marketing and sales capabilities of entrepreneurial technologists. He is a highly-regarded speaker on the topic and is a hand-on angel investor and mentor who is active with the founders of numerous next-generation technology companies emerging on Canada’s west coast.
