Event description
Explore some fantastic BC wines created by three of BC’s finest winemakers from three of BC’s best terroirs.

About this Event

Join us as we welcome Artwine and taste wines from three special BC wineries.

Guests will get to try wines from Orofino, Pentage, and Kettle Valley Winery, and receive 10% off the ENTIRE liquor store after the event!

PENTAGE

Just south of Penticton above the Skaha Lake is the Skaha Bench. It is here where Julie and Paul bought an abandoned orchard in 1996 and created Pentage. Annual production is limited to approximately 5,000 cases a year – this enables them to create exceptional small lot releases and maintain our hands-on approach for quality control.

Their commitment to excellence begins in the vineyards. The great Skaha “terroir” and their low-yield cultivation strategy produces the top-quality grapes essential to their premium, limited release, hand-crafted wines.

Paul utilized his engineering background to create a very impressive 5,000 square foot natural rock wine cellar carved into the side of their hillside. This cellar maintains a very consistent environment for creating and aging wines.

The Similkameen Bench is an area just east of Keremeos and is home to some of the best wine growing terroir on the planet. It is a harsh mineral rich environment where grape flourish and winemakers reap the rewards.

KETTLE VALLEY WINERY

The Naramata bench is one of BC’s most prolific wine regions, this 15-kilometer bench above Lake Okanagan is home to around 30 wineries. Kettle Valley Winery is the oldest single-owner winery on the Naramata Bench. This is Bob and Tim 28th year of making great wines. Kettle Valley produces some single vineyard wines that are farmed at one tonne / acre to maximize the intensity of the fruit and produce some of BC’s best wines. One of which is their Crest Cab Sauvignon that wine author Andre Perdue says is the most fascinating wine to ever cross his lips.

OROFINO

John and Virginia grew up in southern Saskatchewan and after graduating University spent a few years traveling/working abroad. In 2003 they settles in Cawston started Orofino back in 2003 and after months of researching decided to build Canada’s first eco-friendly strawbale winery. Orofino wines are big, bold and great examples of the wonderful Similkameen terroir. John utilizes grapes from his own vineyards but also partners with some local dedicated farmers who share his passion for producing the best grapes possible.

In addition to using oak and stainless, John also uses some locally “manufactured” cement tanks to ferment and age wines. Orofino wines are often unfined and unfiltered to best show off the local terroir.
