Event description

Description

Kids love to play outdoors. But what happens when they get so excited to explore that they lose their way? What should you do? What should your child do?

The Friends of the Ferguson Forest Centre are collaborating with the Rideau Ground Search and Rescue, and Hug-A-Tree & Survive presenters to deliver a program aimed at 5 - 12 year olds that teaches how NOT to get lost in the woods, and what to do should they get lost - teaching them to be aware, be smart & be prepared in the event of an emergency if they're outdoors hiking, paddling or even camping with family. The program includes a video and a Clue Awareness exercise.

While designed for the outdoors, the key safety information children will learn about the important things they can do to help themselves if they do get lost - and the people looking for them - are easily transferable to other places including amusement parks, sporting events, shopping malls, public parks, urban areas, fairs, and much more! Together, these core programs work to ensure kids have the knowledge and training needed to safely enjoy the outdoors, and their communities.

It's educational, it's interactive, and absolutely essential in teaching kids to be safe.

This is an outdoor event, please bring sun protection, bug repellent and a chair.
