Description
Are you curious about bees? Would you like to be a bee conscious gardener? Have you ever considered what it takes to become a beekeeper?
This is a basic workshop designed for people who have never handled live bees.
The topics we cover are:
-
Bee Biology and Behaviour – anatomy, colony structure & behaviour, communication, reproduction, foraging, and honey production
-
Basic Beekeeping - seasonal calendar (a beekeeper's essential guide), beekeeping tools, equipment, and assemblage, pest management
-
Bee conscious gardening - creating bee habitat, native bee species
-
Beehive products - honey, wax, propolis, royal jelly
There will be on-site hive demonstrations as we go through each topic.
