This is a beginner beekeeping class.

Beekeeping is a fascinatiing and rewarding hobby

In this class we will cover basic bee anatomy, different types of beehives, the equipment you will need & where you can get it, and all basic information you should know before you start your adventure into keeping bees

  • Getting started in beekeeping
  • Honey bees: biology (bee parts)
  • Queen, Drone and Worker Bee Identification
  • Bee Hive Components
  • Types of beehives, pros and cons
  • Beekeeping equipment
  • How to get free bees
  • How to handle honey bees and frames of brood
  • How to introduce bees to a beehive
  • Seasonal beekeeper responsibilities and hive management
  • Pests and diseases: biology and identification

We will not be handling bees at this class.

Class is held in our barn, heated & insulated.
