Mental Health Affects all of us! Join CPS as we continue the conversation on mental health with these 4 compelling speakers. Together we can end the stigma around mental illness.
A Veterans Guide to PTSD: The truth. The whole truth....Wayne Federation is an Army veteran of 22 years. He has had two tours as a United Nations Peace Keeper to Cyprus. The first tour in 1974 as a Military Policeman gave him a lasting gift of PTSD which was not diagnosed until 2012. Learn how Mr Federation unknowingly lived with PTSD his entire adult life.

From Powerless to Fearless: Survivor and local advocate for Child Sexual Abuse, C-PTSD and Addictions who has been featured on CBC Nova Scotia News and played a part in Classified’s song, Powerless. Marianne French will take you through her story recalling the traumas that led to her C-PTSD and Disassociations. Most significantly the one piece of her memory that was repressed for 32 years therapy to recovery

Sleep and Sleep disorders and their impact on mood and mental health: We will explore the important role of sleep in modulating daytime experiences and how adequate sleep can lend to resiliency and recovery. Sleep disorders and how disturbed sleep can negatively impact mental wellness will also be reviewed.

I’m Fine: Callie shares her story honestly and with courage to give her voice to mental health.

Can members of the public attend?
This event is being hosted specifically for first responders and their adult partners. Members of the general public are unable to attend.
Do I need to bring ID to check in?
Yes. If you are a CPS members, please bring your access card. If you are from another first responder agency, or the partner of an attending first responder, please bring photo ID and check in at the Security Desk.
What is the cost to attend?
The event is free
Where is Westwinds West located?
Police Headquarters is located at 5111 47 Street N.E. The Westwinds West building is the furthest building from the main entrance.
Where can I park?
Parking is available free of charge in any of the surface lots.
