Event description

Description

Best Buddies UofS is excited to announce our annual fundraiser! This year we are having a burger night, graciously hosted by the Travelodge Hotel.

Build-your-own burger for $20! Each meal includes french fries and salad, with beef, chicken, and veggie burgers available! Children's fries & chicken fingers available for $10 each. Hard-copy tickets are also available in-person: reservations can be made by contacting best.buddies@usask.ca, or in the Arts Tunnel on UofS Campus (times TBA), thus omitting online processing fees.

The night will include our annual Silent Auction as well, with awesome items generously donated to us by local businesses!

All proceeds go towards the members of Best Buddies UofS, to ensure that all buddies and students can continue to engage in our program cost-free, and to reach out to the local community in our awareness campaigns.

Best Buddies Canada is a national charitable organization dedicated to enhancing our community through one-to-one friendships between individuals with intellectual disabilities and students. Best Buddies is grounded in the belief that friendship is important to the development of all individuals and that for all individuals with intellectual disabilities, friendship is a medium through which they can integrate more fully into their communities.

Our program gives people involved the chance to have experiences which most people take for granted - going for coffee, out to a movie, or simply enjoying the company of a good friend. To this end, Best Buddies establishes chapters at high schools, universities and colleges across the country. At each chapter students are matched with individuals with intellectual disabilities who share similar interests. The "Buddy Pairs" call each other weekly and get together approximately twice a month. Five times a year all the Buddy Pairs at a chapter hold a group activity. Each chapter is managed by student volunteers, who are assisted by a person with an intellectual disability, a Buddy Advocate.

In the past, our funds have gone towards monthly group activities, starting new high school chapters in Saskatoon, and advocating in the community through campaigns such as Spread the Word to End the Word. We appreciate your contribution to our and what it means for our wider community--inclusivity, understanding, and friendship.
