Between a rock and a graduate degree: Common Scenarios & Best Practices for Conflict Management in Graduate Studies
Workshop facilitated by: Charmaine Williams (SGS) and Heather McGhee Peggs (Graduate Conflict Resolution Centre www.gradcrc.utoronto.ca)
Date: Wednesday May 23, 2018 from 1-3pm
Location: Main Activity Hall, Room 208 at the Multi-Faith Centre, 569 Spadina Avenue

In this workshop we will consider what makes conflict within the graduate supervisory relationship uniquely challenging to resolve and explore some of the more common sources of conflict. You will have the opportunity to engage in discussion with faculty from different graduate units about effective strategies for managing conflict, and review some of the many resources available to support you and your students.

If you have suggestions for themes or challenging scenarios that you’d like us to address in this session – please email Charmaine Williams (sgs.vdeanstudents@utoronto.ca) or Heather McGhee Peggs (heather.mcgheepeggs@utoronto.ca). To protect privacy, please provide a general description only and do not include details about specific situations or the individuals involved) and we will do our best to incorporate your suggestions into the session.

In advance of this session, we recommend that you review the SGS Graduate Supervision Guidelines, as well as the resources available on the Grad CRC Tips & Advice page.

Registration is limited.
