In this workshop, participants will learn the basics of communication, typical language development in young children, learn how everyday routines and activities can be used to encourage speech and language development in all children, and how music, books and circle time can be adapted to support children with special needs. There will also be a discussion around the role technology can play for children struggling with speech and language learning.
Facilitator: Jennifer Barthel (M.S. CCC-SLP (c), R-SLP) has been a Speech and Language Pathologist working with preschool children who have special needs since 1998. Jennifer works in the community, providing consultative services to families, day cares, and nursery programs. She has presented many workshops for parents and early educators on the topic of promoting communication development over the years, and she hopes to do so for many more.
