This summer music program is being made available to students who would like to further their own development and love of playing music. It is a melodic percussion based program available to all and any students regardless of ability or their own personal instrumentation. They will explore the seeds of blues and blues based music including jazz and rock but it won’t stop there. Through the practical application of ensemble playing, students will expand their ability to be a better player within their part and within “the band”. Students will cultivate listening to, playing with the others, sharpen their rhythmic capability and the ability to process several parts at once, develop communication skills and leadership roles through the art and interaction of playing music. Opportunities for improvisation are constant throughout this program allowing for confidence building while being sensitive to what is being played around them. Above all, fun is the objective. This is truly a class for all music lovers. Classes are available to high school age, junior high age and a grade 5-6 combination.
