artists talk about public art in Lethbridge

November 26, Tuesday, 5PM

Free, RSVP REQUIRED

Offrande migratoire / Migratory Gift by Quebec artist Marc Dulude is a monumental gift from Lethbridge’s twin city Saint-Laurent, Quebec to celebrate the fifty-year relationship between the two cities. Central to the work is the symbol of stones brought back from travelling so as to remember people, encounters and territory. The Quebec granite block, whose movement is marked by a trail on the ground, seems to have been deposited on the site by four bronze Canada Geese, the faithful migratory birds that always return to their homes.

The work is situated at the edge of Henderson Lake Park beside Mayor Magrath Drive as an enduring reminder of the twinning relationship. The City of Lethbridge has also reciprocated this gift and a piece of public art will be installed in Saint-Laurent in 2020.

This event is being supported by the City of Lethbridge Public Art Committee and the Allied Arts Council.
