Ce cours est destiné aux débutants. Nous ferons un survol des différentes techniques et des connaissances strictement de base qui diminuent les risques de bris et de dommages aux fours. Nous verrons les règles du studio de céramique de LESPACEMAKER.

ORIENTATION À L'ATELIER :

• consignes générales
• présentation de la salle des fours

PORTION PRATIQUE:

La création d'une tasse ou d'un bol (cuisson incluse).

Techniques principales:

• colombin
• pincement et étirage
• plaques
• moules
• joints
• barbotine

Principes de base:

• rétrécissage
• séchage
• températures
• différents argiles

Après la formation 101 Intro à la céramique, le participant aura accès :

• au studio de façonnage céramique au 2ème étage de LESPACEMAKER
• à la possibilité d'ajouter ses pièces au four les jours de cuisson

• Un document résumant les consignes et responsabilités générales en tant que membre du comité céramique.
• Un document résumant les pratiques de base

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

This course is designed for beginners in clay. The goal of this course is to teach an overview of the basic principles and techniques of working with clay, so that the learner leaves with a base knowledge of how to successfully construct and dry structures in clay. This knowledge will help to diminish the risk of cracks, breakage and encourage successful firing. This course will also overview the ground rules, good practice and safety protocol of any ceramics studio and specifically at LESPACEMAKER.

Principles of clay:

• Different clay bodies
• Firing temperatures
• Shrinking
• Drying

Basic techniques:

• Coiling
• Pinching
• Slabs
• Sculpting
• Carving
• Slip & score

Worktime:

The learner will use the taught techniques to construct a vessel of their choice (bowl, cup, vase, etc) and have their piece fired by the ceramics committee.

After the 101: Intro to Ceramics, as a member the participant will have access to:

• The ceramics studio on the 2nd floor of L’ESPACE MAKER
• The opportunity to add their pieces to firings in the kiln room
