101 | METAL : Introduction to the Workshop and Technique (beginners)
This course is intended for beginners with little or no practical experience with metalworking machine tools (Column Drill, Abrasive Cutting Saw, Horizontal Band Saw, Angle Grinder, Bench Grinder, Bender). This training is an introduction to the philosophy and practices of the LESPACEMAKER Metal workshop followed by a technical course on the use of the machine tools.
*** Clothing and safety accessories are mandatory for this training course. ***
Theoretical elements :
- Philosophy of the LESPACEMAKER Metal workshop
- Materials
- Basic concepts of metallurgy
- General instructions
- Health, safety, hazards and prevention
- High value tools
- Household appliances
Practical elements :
We will begin the fabrication of a wall coat rack (hooks) to integrate the notions learned. If not finished during the training, the object can be completed during supervised workshop periods.

After the training, the participant will be able to :
- Access the YELLOW reserve area of the metal workshop (during supervised periods first)
- Access the YELLOW tools and machinery of the metal workshop (during supervised periods first)
List of materials provided with registration :
- All materials are provided for the training except for mandatory safety clothing and accessories (eye protection, hearing protection, covered shoes and tight fitting clothing)

Mandatory clothing and safety equipment:
- Closed protective shoes with steel toe cap (shoe cover with steel toe cap accepted)
- Protective eyewear
- Earplugs or earmuffs
- Wear long clothing (pants and long sleeves)
- DO NOT wear loose clothing, gloves, ties, scarves, rings, bracelets or other jewelry that could become entangled in the moving parts of a machine
- Tie back long hair
