Description de l'événement

I'm going to show my city like you've never seen it before. Where slaves lived, who owned slaves, how they escaped etc. I will also give a brief history of the different neighbourhood and the historical figures that gave life to those places.

1. We will go visit Marie-Joseph Angélique's (a black slave who's been accused of setting Old Montreal on fire in 1734) commemorative plaque.

2. We will go to Union United Church (oldest black congregation in Canada started in 1907) in the historical black neighbourhood of Montreal, Little Burgundy.

3. In the same name area (where Malcolm X's parents met and Marcus Garvey held UNIA meetings) we'll take a look at the birth of Canadian Jazz through Oscar Peterson and Oliver Jones' mural.

4. We'll find out about the remains of Rockhead's Paradise first black owned club in Canada in 1927, where artists like Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald made their debut.
