Description de l'événement

Description

  • How and to what extent do communities and local actors take ownership of local forest governance mechanisms?

  • Do public policies discourage (and in what ways) the active participation of communities in forest governance?

  • Does the integration of local actors make it possible to integrate new concerns (regional development, biodiversity, heritage, etc.) and approaches (green infrastructure, etc.) in forest management?

The Forest Dependent Communities and Governance: International Perspectives Conference will be held on June 19-20, 2018 at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO). Renowned researchers, including Janette Bulkan from University of British-Columbia, Stephen Wyatt from University of Moncton, and Jonathan Kusel from Sierra institute for community and environment, will present their studies and will participate in exchanges and reflections fed by the comparison between different institutional forest contexts.

This free event is organized by UQO's Center for Research on Territorial Development (CRDT), in collaboration with the Fédération québécoise des Municipalités (Quebec Federation of Municipalities), and the Ministère des Forêts, de la Faune et des Parcs (Ministry of Forests, Wildlife and Parks).

Register now and come share reflections with researchers from other countries and different Canadian provinces!
