#intersections VOL.9 : Blockchain, des promesses aux applications

La Blockchain est sur toutes les lèvres. À l’image d’internet qui a transformé notre manière d’interagir et de s’informer, la technologie blockchain pourrait révolutionner notre façon de penser et de gérer nos activités.

N'ayant besoin d'aucune autorité centrale pour fonctionner, son potentiel disruptif repose essentiellement sur son caractère décentralisé. Des banques aux assurances en passant par les secteurs de l’immobilier, de la santé, de l’énergie ou des transports, peu de secteurs d’activités seraient exempts des transformations promises par cette technologie. Cependant, malgré une croissance fulgurante qui impressionne, la blockchain sème le doute et son développement n’est pas sans soulever d’importantes questions.

À l’occasion d’#intersections VOL.9, le Printemps numérique souhaite questionner le potentiel et les enjeux liés aux nombreuses promesses de la blockchain afin d’aider les entreprises, citoyens, décideurs et créateurs à mieux appréhender les transformations promises par cette technologie nouvelle.

L'événement débutera par deux courtes conférences qui serviront de point de départ à la conversation sur les enjeux et promesses de la blockchain :

Le Printemps numérique rassemblera ensuite un panel d’experts et d'expertes pour ouvrir le débat sur les questions mentionnées :

✔ Zone expérience

• Retrouvez dans la zone expérience le projet gagnant “Fallacy” du concours de résidence de Float4, crée par Mailis Gomes Rodrigues. “Fallacy” ou raisonnement fallacieux en français, est une installation interactive utilisant la technologie RealMotion, qui crée un habitat immersif où vit une créature virtuelle. Cet agent virtuel s'alimente des données récupérées du web et utilise l’absurdité pour remettre en question la manière dont les réseaux sociaux utilisent les algorithmes pour définir le contenu de nos fils d’actualité.

• Le projet VR / infrasons de Bergmál est un projet collaboratif de recherche-création entrepris par Éric Filion (arts visuels), Yan Breuleux et Michael Trommer (audio) au printemps 2018. Il est conçu comme une méditation sur le lien d'un peuple spécifique à la terre - le lieu qui lie leur connexion à des notions plus larges de la vie, de la mort et de la spiritualité.

• « Métronomes de la Décentralisation » est une visualisation de donnée en temps réel, crée par Martin Lukas Ostachowski, qui explore l'architecture des blockchains à travers le sujet des nuages. Dans le contexte des blockchains et en tant que symbole contemporain du stockage de données et de la connectivité, les nuages représentent la transformation continue et l'espoir d'une distribution équitable des opportunités et des richesses.

• Trois projets réalisés en réalité virtuelle par Metareal, Imagine 360 et SpherePlay, regroupés avec VR/AR Association.

The blockchain is on everyone's lips. Like the Internet, which has transformed the way we interact with each other and learn, the blockchain technology could revolutionize the way we think and manage our activities.
From banking to insurance, real estate, health, energy and transportation, almost no economic sectors would be exempt from the transformations promised by this technology. However, despite its rapid and impressive growth, the development of the blockchain is not without raising doubts and important questions.As part of our next event #intersections VOL.9, Montreal Digital Spring wants to question the potential and challenges related to the development of the blockchain in order to help businesses, citizens, decision-makers, and creators to better understand the transformations promised by this new technology.

• What does the development of the blockchain entail for industries and companies?
• What are the real opportunities related to the deployment of this technology?
• What is its level of maturity and its real disruptive power?
• What would be the potential applications of the blockchain?

✔ Experience zone

• Discover the winning project "Fallacy" of the Float4 residency competition by Mailis Gomes Rodrigues. "Fallacy", which means "error" in French, is an interactive audiovisual installation that creates an immersive habitat where a virtual creature lives there. The creature is able to detect the presence of humans in its surroundings and communicates with them through vibrations or noise. This virtual agent feeds on data retrieved from the web and uses absurdity to question the way social networks use algorithms to define the content of our news feeds. "Fallacy" wants to put into perspective the way we consume information today.

• The "Bergmál" VR / infrasound project is a collaborative research-creation project by Eric Filion, Yan Breuleux and Michael Trommer. It is intended as a meditation on a specific peoples’ bond to the land – the locus that roots their connection to broader notions of life, death and spirituality.

• "Metronomes of Decentralisation" is a visualization of data in real time by Martin Lukas Ostachowski, which explores the architecture of blockchains through the subject of clouds. In the context of blockchains and as a contemporary symbol of data storage and connectivity, clouds represent the continuous transformation and hope for equitable distribution of opportunities and wealth.

• Three projects created in virtual reality by Metareal, Imagine 360 and SpherePlay, associated with VR/AR Association.
