Bioeconomy Strategy Consultation - Guelph
Event Information
Description
You are invited to a Consultation Session for the Development of the Canadian Agriculture Bioeconomy Strategy
This day will discuss the Agriculture Bioeconomy Framework consultations of the AAFC CAAP-funded project to develop a National Bioeconomy Strategy. This consultation will leverage industry, research and association stakeholders from the whole of the agri- business value chain to first develop a framework and then work with adjacent resource sectors (i.e., Forestry) to build a comprehensive national strategy.
The Bioeconomy Strategy for Agriculture will align with the Canadian Council of Forest Ministers Forest Bioeconomy Framework (launched September 2017) and will leverage the foundational work already completed with the agricultural sector including the recently released CAPI report on Optimizing Growth in the Canadian Agri-Food Sector, the Barton report, the AAFC Roundtable - Industrial Bioproducts Value Chain Roundtable (IBPVRT) reports, and the Economic Sector Strategy Table Reports (Agri-food; Clean Technology; Health/Biosciences; Digital Industries, Advanced Manufacturing and Resources of the Future).
This consultation will help to address challenges identified in previous reports by building on gaps related to industrial agriculture as well as the opportunity to align with our growing international and domestic value chain market pull to accelerate Canada’s transition to a sustainable low-carbon society. We look forward to your participation and input into this important endeavour.
This event is hosted by the BioDesign Team. Lunch will be provided.
