The Bioheat Opportunities for Rural and Remote Communities Workshop will bring expertise, tools, and lessons-learned in bioheat project development, and give participants the connections and support they need to make informed decisions and develop their own projects. A mix of expert speakers, workshop exercises, and panels will provide a full scope of possibilities and insights regarding heating with solid biofuels.
As many Canadian provinces and other countries have realized some time ago, there are strong economic, environmental, and social opportunities tied to bioenergy development. This is especially true for remote and rural communities looking for ways to reduce their energy costs by using regional and dependable forms of renewable heat. This workshop will provide participants with meaningful information to allow for enhanced decision-making regarding bioheat, with an emphasis on:
-
Community energy planning with bioheat
-
Technology applications and fuel types
-
Funding and application processes for heating with biofuels in Ontario
-
Lessons learned from biofuel heating projects
