About this event
Want to know who is visiting your bird feeders this winter? Can't tell a robin from a sparrow? Join Okanagan Similkameen Stewardship for a Birding for Beginners workshop!
This workshop will start with an indoor presentation to provide a backgrounder on bird anatomy, how to get started with identifying birds including a summary of field guides and smartphone apps as well as how to attract birds to your property with different feeders, nest boxes, and bird-friendly gardening. Weather permitting, we will head outside for a birding walk to put these skills to use. Please note that this walk will likely have uneven and/or slippery sections. No dogs are permnitted during the bird walk.
We will split our time between inside and outside so dress for the weather. If you have your own bird book or binoculars, please feel free to bring them.
Workshops are free, but a donation upon arrival is very appreciated. Space is limited to 20 participants. You can also register by phone at (250)-770-1467.
