Event description

Description

Join us for an interactive engagement with Cassandra Thompson as we work to explore the nuances of black spirituality and the tribulations of nagging within a white setter society with our Black Bodies.

Cassandra Thompson, B.A is a queer medicine womyn & full circle birth companion. She is an ancestor- and community-taught life-student of Afro-diasporic herb medicine and magick. As a past grassroots activist, Cassandra's work remains dedicated to the healing of two-spirit, trans and queer IBPOC. Her writing has been published in Illustrated Impact, Briarpatch Magazine and The Peak's Medicine Issue to name a few. She currently writes a Healing & Magick column in Wear Your Voice Magazine. She founded Crystal Root & Conjure in October of 2016, a curios company & apothecary that is rooted in the cultural and spiritual practice of Hoodoo, otherwise known as, 'doctoring the root.' She uses nature-based alchemy and ritual to blend fresh and dried herbs, roots and minerals into mixtures for protection, healing and self-care. She worked as an apotheker & the manager of The Witches Brew Kombucha and Apothecary in Toronto, for a year and a half, and has now dedicated herself to plant-based medicine work and birth work, full-time. She continues to pursue her dream of becoming a birthworker & healer in Afro-diasporic tradition, inclusive of the trans & queer IBPOC community.
