Event description

Description

For over 50 years, an essential story has been missing from the mainstream narrative of Black History. That was until the remarkable stories of Katherine Johnson and her peers was brought to the forfront of popular culture; through the critically acclaimed film Hidden Figures. How many other stories of black excellence in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) are missing from our history? MACCA and The City of Markham are partnering to do their part in bringing these stories to light, in the 21st Annual Black History Month Celebration. Join us as we contribute to the #HiddenNoMore movement with this year's theme "Hidden Innovators". The ceremony will honor black innovators in STEM industries, while introducing the future black STEM leaders of tomorrow. The program features dance and musical performances as well as demonstrations from students across York Region. Refreshments will be served from 1 pm to 1:30 pm.
