About this Event
Black Lives STILL Matter
Date: February 6th
Time: 7 PM
Location: Zoom / Online
This event is by donation.
Black Lives Matter is an ongoing Civil Rights movement established in 2013. In 2020, BLM became a global protest against racism and police brutality. Now, as we enter 2021, we need to have a conversation about how to move forward to implement sustainable change.
BLM deserves the same momentum as the loudest moments of 2020. How we show up, will determine how the movement leads to change, in our communities and around the world.
Join us as we speak with activists fighting for racial equity in Alberta, on how Black Lives must STILL Matter.
Speakers:
Taylor McNallie of Inclusive Canada
Taylor McNallie is the true definition of a serial entrepreneur - a brand developer, marketing strategist, public speaker, emcee, bad-ass music journalist and a civil rights activist - Taylor is an all around power house. She is the producer of Taylor Made Radio Entertainment Network, which supports Canadian artists and musicians, as well as the owner of Taylor Made Studios.
Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Taylor moved to a small town in Alberta in 2001, where she had her first harsh experience with racism. She has been learning how to have tough conversations addressing racism ever since.
When the killing of George Floyd sparked worldwide unrest in 2020, creating the largest civil rights movement in history, Taylor co-founded Inclusive Canada (previously RAAR - Rural Alberta Against Racism) to bring conversations of racism and anti-racism into rural communities across Alberta. Taylor is also a member of the Alberta Humanitarian Initiative and Defund2Fund.
Taylor’s perspective and commitment to bring awareness and an end to racism inspires her audiences to get involved and support local anti racism initiatives.

Tiera Williams of A Fight For Equity
Tiera lives on Treaty 6 territory with her family. She has always been passionate about human rights. Growing up watching how people treated her, her Black father, and her white mother, made her aware of the struggles racialized people face. This motivated her, early in her life, to do what she could to stop it.
In the spring of 2020 the world watched in grief and horror as George Floyd cried out for his mother in his last breaths, while an officer kneeled on his neck. Tiera had attended protests previously, but decided enough was enough, and so her and her sister invited friends and family to the Alberta Legislature Building to protest for Black Lives and against police brutality. With the help of amazing like minded activists, they orchestrated Canada's largest peaceful protest with over 15,000 people attending from all over Canada.
Tiera went on to organize two more protests. One for our Mikma'ki brothers and sisters, and the other for Black and Indigenous lives. Through A Fight for Equity, she and her team hosted donation drives and handed out care packs and clothing to those in need. She spoke as the Keynote speaker for The Green Party of Alberta, and has been actively speaking to EPS to build a better and safer community. Tiera is also a part of a nine organization coalition called The Alberta Humanitarian Initiative. Together they are working across Alberta to bring awareness to systemic racism, and the daily struggles of racialized people in Canada.
