Inspired by Katherine McKittrick’s writing about Black method in Dear Science, this session invites four scholars to talk about method, broadly conceived, through their work. Together they span disciplines, topics and spacetimes to engage in conversation about how they take up theory in their practice as well as theorize from their practice. This process, and its anxiety and discernment, is often hidden from view by the academy’s focus on product and outcome. We’re excited to create this space for BS3 participants to engage in this moment of unsettling the product as we speak together about the Black method of artistic, sonic, humanities, and social science work.
