Description

Black Women Connect! Book Club is a Toronto-based book and social club that focuses on celebrating Black Literature, Sisterhood and the love of reading. Our mission is to bring Black Women together who love to read fiction and nonfiction books written by writers of African descent for meaningful conversations, connections and socialization. Each month we choose a book and use it as the foundation to discuss our own lives as black women – we, read, discuss, listen, reflect, renew, and yes, drink & eat! BWC purpose is to inform, empower, inspire, and enrich each member's life through the privilege of reading and connecting with each other.

Black Women Connect is for Black Women in Toronto who are looking to make new friends and connect. In addition to our core book club, other activities include special members only brunches, thematic events, retreats, drinks and dinners and other social engagement.

March Book Selection:

Sing, Unburied, Sing: A Novel, by Jesmyn Ward..
A recent National Book Award in fiction for her second novel makes Jesmyn Ward the first woman to win the major honor twice. “I like to think I know what death is,” Ward begins in Sing, Unburied, Sing. “I like to think it’s something I could look at straight.” Here, Ward again mines the rich territory of her Southern upbringing to construct an epic Faulknerian tale.
