Description

Before being able to hammer out things like sculptures, swords, and railings a blacksmith must first learn
the basics. Things like proper hammer control, striking form, heat control are just some of those basic
stepping stones a blacksmith needs to learn and understand before moving on to the big projects. In this
course you will learn the basics of blacksmithing and be given the time to practice them. Before you
learn to run, you must learn to walk. This course gives you the building blocks and techniques for you to
be able to take the next step after mastering the basics.

IMPORTANT:

*** FOR THIS CLASS YOU WILL NEED A HAMMER AND TONGS (THIS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE BUT IF YOU WANT TO PURCHASED THEM THROUGH US LET US KNOW TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE CLASS)

*** CLOTHES WITH NON SYNTHETIC FIBERS (EG. COTTON, DENIM, WOOL)

*** CLOSE TOE SHOE REQUIRED BUT IF YOU HAVE STEAL TOE BOOTS ITS PREFERED

SATURDAY: 9:00 A.M - 5:00 P.M

SUNDAY: 1:00 P.M - 6:00 P.M

Instructor Bio

Christopher Frostad is from Saskatoon Saskatchewan. He studied blacksmithing at The Haliburton School
of The Arts in Halliburton Ontario, where he received a certificate in Artist Blacksmithing. Since then he
has worked in various blacksmith shops, including working for his former teacher Sandra Dunne in
Kitchener Ontario. Chris has recently graduated from Saskatchewan Polytechnic here in Saskatoon from
the Machinist Certificate Program. He operates a small hobby blacksmithing shop in his spare time and
has started helping teach people to start blacksmithing from the ground up.
