Event description

Description

A well-designed place doesn't just look good; it feels good, sounds good and smells good. Yet we often prioritize vision over the other senses. To get out of the habit of privileging vision, understand the importance of multi-sensory design, and learn how to experience the city through your non-visual senses, come on a Blindfolded Tour of Toronto!

How it Works
We meet at the starting point, chat about safety and what to expect (5 mins). You don the blindfold and the walking begins. Holding onto a thin string, I guide you through a range of multi-sensory urban environments. After 50-55 minutes, you remove the blindfold and we retrace our steps while sharing insights from the walk (15mins). The tour will take about 75 minutes. Note: upon request, this tour can being at Queen & Dufferin.

More Info
Blindfolded Walking Tours are the practical application of research conducted during my Masters' in Philosophy (University of Toronto). I presented this research during a 1.5 hour seminar at the Ontario Association of Architects' Annual Conference in Hamilton and then again to the Toronto Society of Architects at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design. Blindfolded Walking Tours were featured at the Toronto Offsite Design Festival (2016, 2017) where they were acclaimed by the Globe and Mail, CBC, Now Toronto, BlogTO and chosen as "expert picks" by critics from Azure and the Globe and Mail.
