Bluenose-Ability Film Festival
Event Information
Description
The inaugural Bluenose-Ability Film Festival will take place
throughout December 3-5, 2015.
Launching on
United Nations' International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
BAFF is proudly presented by reachAbility.
Taking place in beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia, The Bluenose-Ability Film Festival is Atlantic Canada’s first disability film festival. BAFF encourages participation of persons with disabilities in a media event that honours and celebrates the unique contributions of the growing disability arts and culture movement. Aiming to be the Canadian leader in disability focused arts and culture, we’re dedicated to showcasing professional films as well as promoting youth/first-time filmmaker participation. Our goal is to showcase innovative and provocative works from both seasoned filmmakers and emerging media arts professionals from Atlantic Canada and around the world.
THE FAMILY OF MAN
For the inaugural year of BAFF/BAFFY we have chosen the theme:
We are a Family! If you are humming a Sister Sledge song; good. The importance of family as the core of all we are and can become cannot be denied. The influence of family on the culture of identity. This being the first year of the Festival we felt the foundation is being built, much like the role family plays in all our lives. Family; our first contact with all that is both scary and satisfying. Truly where our foundation, as humans, is laid.
One award-winning film will be selected by the Judging Panel in each of the 4 categories:
