Event description

The future is now! It's 2016 and while we still don't have (real) hoverboards, we're getting something better: distinct BISAC subject codes for young adult books. The Book Industry Study Group (BISG) released their latest code list at the end of 2015 with 446 new codes for Young Adult Fiction (YAF) and Young Adult Non-Fiction (YAF) titles and an implementation date of Jan. 31, 2016.

The new codes will help every stage of the supply chain (learn how on the blog). To better understand what's happening, why, when, and how to get ready, we will have:

  • Connie Harbison, Chair of BISG's BISAC Subject Committee and Director at Baker & Taylor, explain the new codes and provide useful resources for implementation;

  • BookNet's Tom Richardson give an overview of how industry stakeholders—including your favourite BookNet products—are adopting the changes; and,

  • Indigo Books & Music at your disposal to answer questions about implementation of the codes at the retailer level.
