Board Leadership Calgary is pleased to announce Board Basics for Non-Profits: Learning Event 2015! Join other members of voluntary non-profit organization boards for Calgary’s second annual one day board leadership learning event. This event will feature a variety of engaging and informative basic level workshops that will focus on board governance fundamentals and best practices for the voluntary sector and provide helpful resources, new ideas, and networking opportunities.
In 2014 Board Leadership Calgary launched its first event with overwhelming response and a waitlist to get in. We’re back in 2015 with a variety of presenters and 18 workshop topics to choose from so be sure to register early to avoid disappointment!
This year’s topics include governance basics; board recruitment, orientation, training and evaluation; policy development/manuals; liability and risk management; effective meetings; strategic planning; legal compliance; decision making; board/staff relationships; bylaw development and review; and more. Registration: $75.00 (includes lunch and refreshments)
The low ticket price and bursaries are made possible through the generous support of our sponsors: Calgary Arts Development (CADA), First Calgary Financial, Simple Cloud Works, and The Calgary Foundation.
Bursaries: SOLD OUT! A limited number of bursaries are available. The bursary covers 2/3 of the ticket price to offset the cost for those with very limited resources. Maximum of two bursaries per organization.
To apply for a bursary: Please email your name, organization, position, and a paragraph explaining why you need a bursary and how it will benefit your organization, to Jennifer.Banks-Doll@gov.ab.ca Subject:BURSARY. If you are approved, you will be given a promotional code to enter when you register. DO NOT REGISTER for the event until you have received a response to your request for a bursary.
