HYBRID BOOK LAUNCH WITH THE EDITORS CASSANDRA MARK-THIESEN & MORITZ MIHATSCH
About this event
Open invitation!
With the global movements of BLM and #RhodesMustFall, commemorative practices and strategies in Africa went under public scrutiny, calling for a drastic anti-colonial, antiracist, afro-feminist and anti-classist turn in keeping collective memories and shared histories alive.
These trajectories form core issues of the timely volume "The Politics of Historical Memory and Commemoration in Africa", edited by Cassandra Mark-Thiesen, Moritz Mihatsch and Michelle Sikes.
We cordially invite you to join us for the official launch to get exciting insights into the production process of the volume and to actively engage in a Q&A with the editors Cassandra Mark-Thiesen & Moritz Mihatsch, as well as contributing authors!
If you could not browse through the pages of the volume yet, no worries! We intend to share excerpts of the book with registered participants so you can get a taste in advance.
The event will take place in a hybrid format at the University of Bayreuth, and for those who can't join us in person, the online event can be joined via Eventbrite and log in data is also shared via Event-Emails in advance!
Spread the word and invite colleagues, friends and family!
