Come celebrate the launch of You Are My Favorite Color (a picture book) on Zoom!

Author Gillian Sze and illustrator Nina Mata will be in attendance to do a live reading, give a drawing demonstration, and discuss their creative process. Q&A to follow.

You Are My Favorite Color is a lyrical story of parental love that celebrates and takes pride in the many shades of brown skin. Perfect for fans of I Am Enough, Hey Black Child, Hair Love, and Our Skin.

GILLIAN SZE is the author of multiple poetry collections and picture books, including The Night Is Deep and Wide (illustrated by Sue Todd) and My Love for You Is Always (illustrated by Michelle Lee). Her poetry has been nominated for the QWF’s A. M. Klein Prize for Poetry, as well as received awards such as the University of Winnipeg Writers’ Circle Prize and the 3Macs carte blanche Prize. Her work has received starred reviews from Quill & Quire, Publishers Weekly, and Kirkus Reviews, and has been translated into Slovenian, French, Italian, Turkish, Hebrew, and Greek. Gillian studied creative writing at Concordia University and received a PhD in études anglaises from Université de Montréal. Originally from Winnipeg, she now lives in Montreal, where she teaches creative writing and literature.

NINA MATA is a New York Times bestselling illustrator and received her degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She has illustrated many books, including American gymnast Laurie Hernandez’s She’s Got This, NBA superstar LeBron James's I Promise, and the Ty’s Travels I Can Read series. Nina currently lives in New Jersey with her husband, their daughter, and Tabitha, their cat.
