Bookbinding Workshop

Instructor : Barbara Helander, The Canadian Bookbinders & Book Artists Guild

Duration : 1-hour

Class Size : max. 8 participants

Time : 10:30 am

Fee : $20.00 per person + $2.60 HST

Participants will create a fascinating Hinge Book. When opened, the book revolves around a hinge and takes on the look of a star; but remove the hinge pin, and the book displays as an accordion!

All the basic materials for making these structures will be supplied.

Meet the instructor:

Barbara Helander holds two degrees (B.Ed., M.Sc.) and her major in both was Clothing & Textiles. Her professional career was spent in apparel manufacturing where she worked in a variety of capacities ranging from product development to quality assurance. She currently acts as a textile consultant and also teaches textiles at Seneca College. In her spare time, Barbara runs a small keepsake business that includes creating one-of-a-kind books. Barb has worked her way through the core CBBAG courses and was pleased to earn her certificate in the spring of 2010.
