Event description

Description

The Baby Boom generation was born between 1946 to 1964. Today this demographic ranges in age from 55 to 73. There are currently over 40,000 Boomer residents in the CRD – prime volunteering age! Their motivations however are very different from younger volunteers. Boomers value independence and often want to take ownership of a project. They can also have multiple pressures on their free time, taking care of children or grandchildren as well as their parents. Learn other characteristics unique to Boomers and the special steps you can take to recruit, retain and honour this growing demographic in your organization.

About the facililitator:

For the past 20 years, Nancy Taylor has been recruiting and managing volunteers, and raising awareness of their good works, with several non-profits including Saanich Volunteer Services Society, Habitat for Humanity Victoria, Canadian Parents for French BC & Yukon and the International Institute for Child Rights and Development.

From fundraising to event planning to project evaluating and everything in between, Nancy is passionate about volunteering. She loves the fulfillment her assignments provide, the new skills she learns and the many inspiring people she meets along the way.
