Your Moderator: Lesley MacDonald

Lesley MacDonald is the founder, producer and host of the Global News Woman of Vision Television program, 25-year 3-time national award-winning series that celebrates the accomplishments of inspirational women in the Edmonton area. The program is on hiatus during the pandemic with plans to return as soon as it is safely possible.

Her experience in television news spanned more than 35 years at Global Television in Toronto and Edmonton as a news anchor, producer and writer. As CEO of New Viewpoint Communications, Lesley also has over 25 years’ experience working on a variety of business, media-related and communications projects. In addition, she is a public speaker and acts as host, moderator and emcee for countless local and national programs and events.

Lesley’s past and present community involvement includes the Board of Governors of MacEwan University, the United Way Cabinet, the City of Edmonton Salute to Excellence Council, the Laurel Awards and the Immigrant Access Fund.

She is the recipient of 2 Paul Harris Fellowships, an honorary Rotary Integrity Award, a Womanition Superlative Media Award and a Woman of Style award for excellence in the media.

Your Speakers:

Jessica Buckwold: Jessica is a Vice President & Associate General Counsel at Stantec. Stantec is headquartered in Edmonton with over 400 offices and 25,000 employees around the globe. Since joining Stantec in 2013 from private practice, she has held various roles on Stantec’s legal team including leading the Canada legal team for many years. In her current role, Jessica works with executive leadership, operations and human resources teams, leading corporate policy development and implementation, as well as corporate risk management. She specializes in employment law and labor relations. Born and raised in Saskatoon, Jessica completed her undergraduate degree in Sociology/Political Science at the University of Victoria and her law degree at the University of Alberta. In her spare time, Jessica enjoys travelling with her husband and two kids.

Kim Krushell: 2021 was a year of change and 2022 is setting up to be an amazing year for me back in Tech! After stepping down as President of Lending Assist after a successful sales deal in May and then finalizing a major acquisition deal of our second tech company Treefort Technologies Incorporated with Stuart Title Guaranty Company (Canada) in June. I stepped down as the CEO of Treefort Technologies to take a long shot run for Mayor of Edmonton, and while I did not win, I fulfilled a dream!

I have recently stepped back into Treefort Technologies as the Board Chair and Executive Vice President focused on Customer Experience. Like the rest of the senior team at Treefort, my mission is to bring the best technology in the world together and help make sensitive online transactions simple and secure for everyone.

Shae MacPherson: Shae was born and raised on a farm in rural Manitoba, and at 18 years old she moved to Edmonton on her own, which was the beginning of a great journey. Shae started her career as a legal assistant at a large downtown law firm. She has had the privilege of learning from great people along the way and is thankful for their influences, which enabled her to continue to take the next opportunity. Today she finds herself back in a law firm leading various teams both operationally and strategically.

Shae’s commitment to creating connection through deep authentic conversations, helping leaders elevate their impact on their people, their business and their world has motivated her to also become a facilitator who specializes in strategic planning.

Shae holds a CMC designation, and both the C. Mgr. and C.I.M. designations from the Canadian Institute of Management. She is a member of the Canadian Institute of Management, the Association of Legal Administrators and currently sits on the BPW Edmonton board. When Shae is not working, she enjoys spending time with family, outdoor adventures and reading inspirational books.

Heather Stewart: Heather Stewart is the President of BBE Expediting Ltd., a business focused on moving cargo from around the world into remote areas in the North. As an entrepreneur, Heather enjoys investing in logistics technology and building digital next steps for the business. Born in Yellowknife, NWT, Heather Stewart has worked in logistics throughout most of her life. Heather’s holds a business undergraduate degree from Mount Royal University and an Executive MBA from Queen’s University. In 2019, was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Women in Supply Chain, receiving an honorary SCMP professional designation. Heather was the proud recipient of BMO’s Business Expansion & Growth Award in Edmonton in 2019.
