Juana Go-Go // Colombia, Vinyl Set.
Straight from the salsatecas of Cali, Juana Go-gó first fell in love with the engaging patterns of salsa as a dancer at a young age in her hometown of Cali, Colombia, Juana began to develop a distinct appreciation for the music on vinyl, allowing her to explore the vibrant textures and colours the broad spectrum of World Music induces both on and off the dancefloor.
Soukustek was born under the gaze of the Caribbean Sea that surrounds the Coastal city of Cartagena de Indias in Colombia.
"It is a combination of life experiences, dreams and joys that have fed off of our direct connection to Africa."
Soukustek combines the rhythms and the sounds of guitars that arrived from Africa in the Seventies and seamlessly blends them with the flavour of the Colombian Caribbean. Soukustek is dance, joy, and history: it is Africa in Colombia, it is the music of the "pico" culture, "live" on stage.
