Description

Collaborating for Resilient Watersheds
Purpose and topics

The purpose of the 2019 spring workshop is to introduce municipal members, especially those in the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board to new decision-support tools for land use planning and development that promote identification and conservation of priority landscapes for watershed resilience. BRBC’s Legislation and Policy Committee is partnering with the Growth Board.

Topics:

  1. The need for cross-jurisdictional collaboration during land use planning and development
  2. New conservation priority maps – Developing Conservation Priority Maps in the Bow River Basin as Decision-Support Tools – methodology, resilience indicators, criteria used to create the maps.
  3. How to use conservation priority maps during land use planning and conservation reserve assessment
  4. Land trusts and their long term maintenance and management of conservation reserves.
  5. Watershed resilience criteria and monitoring over time

We have a number of excellent presenters lined up for the day (more details to follow). If you intend on attending please register early as seating is limited.

Thank you,
