Description
Are you curious to learn about the research that is happening in your community regarding Brain Cancer, Traumautic Brain Injury, Epilepsy, Stroke and more? If so, come along to The Brain Repair Centre as we are pleased to host our second Public Forum.
Dr. David Anderson, Dean of Medicine, Dalhousie University, will introduce three of the BRC’s Halifax-based Researchers (see below), who will provide a snapshot of the research being done by them and their colleagues, in layman’s terms! Q&A and Refreshments will follow the presentations.
Speakers:
Tara Perrot, PhD
Dr. Perrot's research focuses on factors that influence development and maintenance of adaptive resilient responses to stressors. Her team have studied stress responding for many years from a variety of perspectives, including behavioural, hormonal and neural in both non-human animal models and humans. The factors they are most interested in that influence development of adult stress responding are those that occur during early life, such as prenatal stress and enriched postnatal environments.

George Robertson, PhD
Dr. Robertson's primary research interest is finding ways to block the injurious events responsible for neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease. He is developing both small molecule (drug)- and gene therapy-based approaches to protect the brain from damage by improving mitochondrial performance.
