Description

Breaking Barriers in Medicine: Doctors Emily Stowe, Jenny Trout, Augusta Stowe, and Elizabeth Bagshaw

Sunday, April 15, 2:00 p.m. in our Interpretive Centre

Looking at today’s graduating physicians, it is hard to imagine how difficult it was for Canadian women to enter the medical field. Re-enactor Joanne Lubansky Johns and educator Jean Hewitt will look at Canada’s first female doctors. In addition, Nancy Johnson of Lockwood Films will share the award winning film, Doctor Woman: Life and Times of Dr. Elizabeth Bagshaw, a documentary which chronicles the life of a pioneering woman in medicine who challenged the system. (This presentation includes a 25 min film)

Cost: $6 + HST per person.
